Investment needed in waste water treatment works – Anderson

SINN Féin’s Martina Anderson has said that investment is needed to improve wastewater treatment works in Derry as the current lack of capacity is limiting development and potential economic growth.

The Foyle MLA said: “Lack of capacity in wastewater treatment works in Derry is limiting development and stifling potential economic growth.

“I asked the Infrastructure Minister about the capacity of wastewater treatment works in the Derry area and in response the minister acknowledged that all were under capacity.

“The lack of investment in water infrastructure is preventing thousands of new houses and other developments being built in the Buncrana Road and Skeoge areas.

“Investment is needed in our waste water infrastructure to bring it up to standard and ensure that it is fit for purpose to allow much needed development.”
