Councillor Logue said: “In stormy weather empty wheelie bins and blow over or roll if someone pushes them accidentally or deliberately and could cause serious injury or an accident.
“Cars have been damaged by wheelie bins rolling down steep hills and it is lucky no one has been injured to date.
“If a rolling wheelie bin was to hit a child or an older person then they could be seriously hurt.
“I would ask people to make sure their wheelie bins are secured after they are emptied.
“I would also ask the bin collectors to try to ensure bins are not left where they can roll away, particularly on hilly streets.”
