THE Department of Health in the North has recorded a further 1,662 positives cases in the last 24 hours.
There have been a further six deaths from the deadly virus bringing the death toll, mostly in hospitals, to 1,354.
The new statistics are published just 24 hours before the second roll out of a new vaccine in the North on Monday, January 4.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 11,810 new cases of Coronavirus – up from 4.515 in the seven days prior to this week.
This represents a 162 per cent increase in detections.
There has been a further 144 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council in the past 24 hours.
Within the past week there have been a further 1,121 COVID-19.
That means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 9,292 positive cases within the council boundary.
The Department has now recorded a total of 98 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date.
Bed occupany across all hospitals is now at 96 per cent.
There are currently 507 patiens in hospital with Coronavirus, with 36 patients currently in intensive care and 22 patients who are on ventilators.
A total of 107 care homes are dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 425 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
