A MAN appeared at Derry Magistrates’ Court charged with a bomb hoax at Strand Road PSNI station.
The Irish News reports that Emmet Gillen (38) of Clon Elagh in the city was charged with communicating to the police that there was a bomb at the station knowing that information to be false on January 11.
He was also charged with using the public communications network to send a message of a menacing nature on the same date.
Deputy District Judge Sean O’Hare released Gillen on his own bail of £500, imposed a curfew from 9pm until 7am and imposed a no drugs or drink condition.
The judge warned the defendant any breach of these conditions would lead to him going into custody.
The case was adjourned until Wednesday, February 10.
