She said: “I am very pleased that the Department for Communities has indicated that progress is at last being made on the Triangle.
“This will bring important improvements to the quality of life for many people living in the Triangle and the project is important to improve a core part of the Waterside community.
“The Department for Communities announced in November that a business case of £2.5 million had been approved.
“This is the trigger for the long overdue refurbishment and ‘buy back’ of properties in the Triangle area.
“The minister has now replied to my question in the Assembly by providing further details.
“The minister confirmed that the Housing Executive and her department expect that with the successful procurement of a contractor, the works should commence in March next year, with a completion date of March 2023.
“I understand that the Coronavirus pandemic has unfortunately slowed down leaseholder consultation, but I would encourage that when contacted, leaseholders and residents fully engage in this process to ensure they can voice any concerns.
“I continue to work with my Waterside colleagues, Cllrs Sean Mooney and Martin Reilly, on this issue and we are fully committed to see it come to fruition.
“If any residents have any questions or concerns, I am happy for them to contact me to discuss this.”
