In a message on Facebook, Ashleen Nicell says: “As many of you know, our mammy Lynn, was taken away from us at the tender age of 32 leaving behind her husband Joe and their four children Orla 11, Ashleen 7, Niall 5 and Sinead 2.
“The 3rd Feb 2021 will mark her 60th birthday and we, her children and grandchildren, want to do something to mark the occasion whilst raising money for a charity close to our hearts.
“Not only did the Foyle Hospice look after our Mammy in her final days, but they also made sure that we could visit, helped us with homework and made us dinner each day.
“Her grandchildren are arranging a raffle and her children are taking on 60 miles to mark 60 years.
“Over the course of February we will walk / run / cycle 60 miles across Derry, Scotland and Australia and keep you informed of our journey.
“You can help us by:
1 assisting us with a few miles
2 donating to the hospice
3 share with us your memories of our mammy (as you can imagine we were all very young when we lost her and would love to hear stories from her past) photos would be the ultimate bonus.
“We would love to put your memories into a photo book then for her children and grandchildren to treasure.
“We appreciate times are hard so only spare what you can, every penny counts and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £5 or £500. Every little bit helps.
“Thank you for your support. I’ve included information about Foyle Hospice below.
“Hospice Care is based on a philosophy which recognises the need to treat each person with dignity, respect and compassion irrespective of their cultural or religious background.
“Our Vision is that all adults in our local community living with life-limiting illness will have access to the best possible palliative care that is appropriate to their needs.
“Facebook pays all the processing fees for you, so 100% of your donation goes directly to the charity.”
