Mullan calls for Beechwood parking bays

SINN Féin’s Karen Mullan has called on the Department for Infrastructure to look at the possibility of introducing parking bays in the area in front of the businesses on Beechwood Avenue.

Said the Foyle MLA: “I am calling on the Department for Infrastructure to have an urgent look at the situation here.

“This is one of the busiest shopping areas in the city and there is not a day that goes past that there is a clog up of traffic traveling up or down Beechwood Avenue.

“I believe one of the ways to help the flow of traffic and improve road safety in the area would be to introduce a parking bay in front of the shops.

“There is a very large footpath there so it wouldn’t be impeding on pedestrians.

“It would also help the local businesses as in many instances potential customers are just driving because they can’t get to the park.
