The cash injection will help to maintain the Derry to London route until March 2023.

“The SDLP has always been a staunch advocate for our region and the need for connectivity through our Airport.
“We will continue to work across all levels of Government to ensure its sustainability.
“In Government SDLP Deputy Leader and Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon has worked hard throughout the pandemic to provide over £2 Million in support.
“This has been vital is ensuring City of Derry Airport can continue to operate.
“The need for greater connectivity is clear particularly if we want to build an economy fit for the post-pandemic world.
“This news gives us an opportunity to look to the future and try to build consensus around a long-term funding solution for the Airport.
“Long term viability is a necessity to protect jobs and potential.”
