THE Department of Health has announced a further 172 more cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a rise of six cases on figures given for Thursday.
There have been a further four deaths (none outside the current reporting period) from the deadly virus bringing the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, to 2,072.
Sadly, one of these latest deaths has been recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 1,223 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 10 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council in the past 24 hours, a fall of seven on the previous day.
Within the past week there have been a further 83 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
That means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 11,240 positive cases within the council boundary.
The Department has now recorded a total of 133 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all 11 councils in the North of Ireland.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 91 per cent.
There are currently 226 patients in hospital with Coronavirus, with 30 patients currently in intensive care and 25 patients who are on ventilators.
A total of 18 care homes are dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 621 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
