THE Department of Health has reportced a further 229 more cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a rise of 82 cases on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.
There has been nine further deaths (three of which were recorded outside the current reporting period) from the deadly virus bringing the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, to 2,096.
Sadly, one of these latest deaths has been recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 1,277 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 13 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council in the past 24 hours, a rise of nine on the previous day.
Within the past week there have been a further 76 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
That means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 11,285 positive cases within the council boundary.
The Department has now recorded a total of 134 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all 11 councils in the North of Ireland.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 93 per cent.
There are currently 189 patients in hospital with Coronavirus, with 26 patients currently in intensive care and 19 patients who are on ventilators.
A total of 17 care homes are dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak (a rise of one from Tuesday) with a further 625 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
