Teen being questioned over riotous behaviour at Strand Road police station in Derry

A TEENAGER is in custody at Strand Road police station as disturbances in the city entered a second day.

Youths attacked police in Magowan Park on Friday with stones and petrol bombs as PSNI officers searched a house for bomb making material belonging to the New IRA.

Police Derry City and Strabane say: “While Ballyarnett Neighbourhood Team were out on patrol last night, officers chased and arrested a 15 year old who was observed setting fire to a road sign on the Moss Road.

“He was in a larger group of eight youths throwing items at a police vehicle.

“He was arrested for riotous behaviour and criminal damage by Arson.

“Parents, do you know where your children are?

“You do not want to be the next one getting a phone call explaining that your child is in the cells.”
