THE Department of Health has reported a further 80 cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a fall of eight on figures given yesterday for Thursday.
There has been one further death from the deadly virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, now at 2,142.
This latest death was not recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 715 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 14 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area in the past 24 hours, a rise of three on the previous day.
Within the past week there have been a further 141 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area – the highest number of new cases in any of the 11 council’s here.
That means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 12,123 positive cases within the council boundary – the fourth highest among all 11 councils in the North.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane council area is now at 93.6 cases per 100,000, the highest in the North of Ireland.
The Department has recorded a total of 136 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 97 per cent.
There are currently 64 patients in hospital with Coronavirus, six of whom are being treated in intensive care with three patients on ventilators.
Four care homes are now dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 649 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
