THE Department of Health has announced a further 104 Coronavirus cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a rise of 22 on figures given yesterday for Sunday.
There has been two further deaths (one outside the current reporting period) from the virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, now at 2,152.
None of these latest deaths was reported in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 610 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 17 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, down three on figures released yesterday for Sunday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 142 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
That means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 12,578 positive cases within the council boundary – the fourth highest among all 11 councils in the North.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane council area is now at 94.2 cases per 100,000, the highest in the North of Ireland.
The Department has recorded a total of 136 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now up to 102 per cent.
There are currently 38 patients in hospital with Coronavirus.
Three patients are being treated in intensive care with three patients on ventilators.
Four care homes are now dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 654 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
