Fears cat could lose leg in pellet gun shooting

A DERRY woman has asked us to put readers on the alert over a thug armed with a pellet gun who has left her pet cat battling to save one of his legs.

She contacted Derry Daily to say the pet, called Boris, had sustained a broken leg in the mindless attack on the defenceless animal.

The vet, she says, is not sure if the leg can be saved.

And the pet owner has been told by the authorities that her two-year-old male rescue cat was likely to have been shot at close range given the extent of his injuries.

She said: “My pet cat Boris has been shot with a pellet gun.

“It happened on Friday evening, May 28, in the Park area and was likely to have been at close range (according to authorities).

“This has resulted in a badly broken leg and until surgery we will not know if can be saved.”

The owner says she will know on Tuesday if vet can save Boris’s leg.

She is also concerned that other animals/pets may have been targeted “and did get back home or are still suffering”.

If you know who did this to poor Boris, bring the information forward so no other cat or animal has to suffer like this.
