THE Department of Health has reported a further 80 Coronavirus cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a fall of four on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.
There has been one further death (outside the current reporting period) in the past 24 hours from the virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, remaining at 2,154.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 488 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 14 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a rise of three on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 76 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 12,778 positive cases within the council boundary – the fourth highest among all 11 councils in the North.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane council area is now at 50.4 cases per 100,000, still the highest in the North of Ireland.
The Department has recorded a total of 136 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now up to 107 per cent.
There are currently 17 patients in hospital with Coronavirus.
One patient is being treated in intensive care with no patients on ventilators.
Only two care homes are now dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 657 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
