THE Department of Health has reported a further 229 Coronavirus cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a fall of 18 on figures given on Friday for Thursday.
There has been no further deaths from the virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, now at 2,155.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 1,600 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 44 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, that is a fall of 12 on figures given Friday for Thursday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 356 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 13,556 positive cases within the council boundary – the third highest among all 11 councils in the North.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has risen sharply to 235.3 cases per 100,000, the highest of any council in the North of Ireland.
The Department has recorded a total of 136 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 100 per cent.
There are currently 16 patients in hospital with Coronavirus, a rise of one on the previous 24 hours.
There are two patients being treated in intensive care with two patients on ventilators.
Four care homes are now dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak, a rise of one on last week, with a further 659 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
