THE Department of Health has announced a further 1,776 Coronavirus cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a rise of over 1,200 on figures given yesterday for Saturday.
There has been one further deaths from the virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, now at 2,163.
Sadly, over the weekend one latest death has been reported from Coronavirus within the Derry City and Strabane District Council.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 7,354 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 157 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a rise of 24 on figures given last Friday for Thursday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 722 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 15,394 positive cases within the council boundary – the third highest among all 11 councils in the North.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has risen to 477.2 cases per 100,000, the highest of any council in the North of Ireland.
The Department has to date recorded a total of 138 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 100 per cent.
There are currently 109 patients in hospital with Coronavirus, a rise of 17 on Friday’s figures.
There are seven patients being treated in intensive care with three patients on a ventilator.
Twenty-six care homes are now dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak, a rise of five on figures given last Friday for Thursday, with a further 661 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
