Said the Foyle MLA: “Derry’s young people have a proven track record of helping people and have gone above and beyond assisting neighbours, friends and colleagues in need.
“As well as wearing masks and social distancing, the vaccine has been an immense help.
“But worryingly the Chief Scientific Adviser, Professor Ian Young, said last week that about 18 per cent of adults in the North have still not come forward for their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
“To make it as easy as possible to get vaccinated you can contact your GP, community pharmacy or use a regional vaccination centre for walk-in appointments until this Saturday, July 31.
“The best way to prevent the need for more restrictions and further lockdowns that nobody wants when we head into the winter months is to get your vaccination as soon as possible.
“I’d encourage all of our young people who haven’t done so yet to avail themselves of both vaccination doses to protect themselves, each other, and their communities.
“Doing this small thing helps in a big way in our fight against the virus and preventing the need for further restrictions.
“Make sure you don’t miss out on your chance to help protect yourself and others.”
