THE Department of Health has reported a further 1,471 Coronavirus cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a fall of 129 cases on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.
There has been two further deaths from the virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, now at 2,178.
None of these latest deaths has been recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 9,142 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 135 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a rise of two on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 798 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 16,606 positive cases within the council boundary – the third highest among all 11 councils in the North.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has fallen to 527.5 cases per 100,000, now the fourth highest of the 11 council districts in the North of Ireland.
The Department has to date recorded a total of 139 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now down to 103 per cent.
There are currently 234 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus, a fall of ten on figures released yesterday.
There are 31 patients being treated in intensive care with 25 patients on a ventilator, a rise of two in the last 24 hours.
Eighty care homes are now dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 666 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
