THE Department of Health has announced a further 1,082 Coronavirus cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a rise of 210 cases on figures given yesterday for Sunday.
There has been six further deaths (three outside the current reporting period) from the virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, now at 2,205.
Sadly, two of these latest deaths have been recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 8,254 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 89 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a rise of four on figures given yesterday for Sunday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 758 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 17,095 positive cases within the council boundary – the third highest among all 11 councils in the North.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has fallen to 501.0 cases per 100,000, the second highest of the 11 council districts in the North of Ireland.
The Department has now recorded a total of 142 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now up to 101 per cent.
Altnagelvin Hospital has recorded that 12.23 per cent of its patients are being treated for Coronavirus.
There are currently 224 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus.
There are 37 patients being treated in intensive care with 26 patients on a ventilators.
Ninety-nine care homes are now dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak, a rise of 12 from Friday, with a further 671 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
Ten care homes in the Western Trust area are currently dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
