THE Department of Health has announced a further 1,040 Coronavirus cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a fall of 42 cases on figures given yesterday for Monday.
There has been one further deaths (three outside the current reporting period) from the virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, now at 2,206.
This latest death was not recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 7,804 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 85 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a fall of five on figures given yesterday for Monday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 694 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 17,179 positive cases within the council boundary – the third highest among all 11 councils in the North.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has fallen to 458.7 cases per 100,000, the second highest of the 11 council districts in the North of Ireland.
The Department has now recorded a total of 142 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now up to 102 per cent.
There are currently 226 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus.
There are 38 patients being treated in intensive care with 29 patients on a ventilators.
One hundred and three care homes are now dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak, a rise of four from Monday, with a further 672 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
Ten care homes in the Western Trust area are currently dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
