THE Department of Health has reported a further 1,305 Coronavirus cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a rise of 274 cases on figures given yesterday for Sunday.
There has been two further deaths (one outside the current reporting period) from the virus in the past 24 hours with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, now at 2,230.
None of these latest deaths were recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 9,063 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 145 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a rise of 32 on figures given on yesterday for Sunday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 931 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 18,006 positive cases within the council boundary – the third highest among all 11 councils in the North.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has risen sharply to 615.4 cases per 100,000, the second highest of the 11 council districts in the North of Ireland.
Mid Ulster Council has the highest with 620.1 cases per 100,000.
The Department has now recorded a total of 145 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now up to 103 per cent.
There are currently 311 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus.
There are 41 patients being treated in intensive care with 32 patients on ventilators.
The Western Trust reports that 13.29 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are treating patients with Coronavirus.
Five patients are currently being treated in Altnagelvin’s ICU for COVID-19.
One hundred and five care homes are now dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak with a further 684 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
Twelve care homes in the Western Trust area are currently dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
