The Foyle MP said that the Executive must meet the commitment in New Decade New Approach to expand university places in Derry after the party’s negotiators secured initial investment from the British Government.
Said Mr Eastwood: ““People in Derry have had enough of the failure of the DUP and Sinn Féin First Ministers to deliver for this city over the last 14 years.
“Even when the SDLP secures written commitments for Derry, they’re ignored or kicked down the road. It isn’t good enough. People here deserve better.
“There is a solid commitment in New Decade New Approach to expand university provision in Derry to 10,000 places.
“The former Secretary of State Julian Smith confirmed that the British Government would support efforts to expand our university with capital investment because SDLP negotiators made it a priority.
“Yet there seems to be absolutely no urgency from Paul Givan or Michelle O’Neill to deliver on the promise made to Derry.
“We have waited long enough.
“The First Ministers need to set out the plan to deliver for Derry immediately.”
