THE Department of Health has reported a further 1,313 cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a rise of 54 on figures given yesterday for Sunday.
There have been a further six deaths in the past 24 hours bringing the the total number of deaths here linked to Covid-19 (mostly in hospitals) since the start of the pandemic is 2,364.
Two further deaths were recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area over the bank holiday weekend.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 10,620 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 130 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a fall of 116 on figures given on Friday for Thursday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 1,261 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 21,767 positive cases within the council boundary – the third highest among all 11 councils in the North.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has fallen to 833.85 cases per 100,000, still the second highest of all 11 council districts in the North of Ireland.
The Department has now recorded a total of 155 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 103 per cent.
There are currently 391 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus.
There are 44 patients being treated in intensive care with 37 patients on ventilators.
The Western Trust reports that 16.30 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are COVID-19 occupied with staff treating 53 patients with Coronavirus.
Five of those patients are currently being treated in Altnagelvin’s ICU for COVID-19 – that’s half of its ICU beds treating patients with the deadly virus.
The hospital is currently running at 5.96 per cent above capacity.
A total of 135 care homes are now dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak with a further 734 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
A total of 22 out of 70 residential care homes in the Western Trust area are now dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
