Mr Durkan said he is pleased that following that engagement, action has been taken to make improvements.
Said the Foyle MLA: “In recent weeks, residents of Eglinton raised with me their concerns around the intermittent pharmacy services provided in the area.
“I raised these problems with management, particular the fluctuating opening times whereby the pharmacy was closing early during the week without prior notice.
“I appreciate the shortfall of staff and resources have further hindered their ability to carry out ‘business as usual.’
“This was causing difficulty for service users as well as the remaining staff, making it difficult for customers and patients to access vital services.
“I’m pleased that following a productive meeting, management have confirmed that Eglinton pharmacy are now operating all intended hours, additional pharmacist cover, technician and support staff are now in place to deal with the demand.
“I also welcome the upcoming meeting between Lloyd’s Pharmacy staff and the local GP surgery to discuss these issues.
“Community pharmacies play an important role, especially in rural areas like Eglinton, access to these services is of great importance.
“I welcome the prompt steps taken by Lloyd’s pharmacy to address these concerns.”
