“Ny name is Eamonn and I have Cerebral Palsy.
“There are many causes of Cerebral Palsy and mine was caused by a starvation of oxygen going to my brain when I was born.
“The doctors said that I could never walk or talk.
“I took part in many school shows over the years such as The Lonemoor Ranger in St Joes and of course my plays in Magee.
You can watch Eamonn’s video here:
“My favourite TV show is Derry Girls.
“I graduated with a 2:1 degree in drama from Magee which is a great achievement.
“My opinion on having Cerebral Palsy:
“Having Cerebral can be hard emotionally I won’t lie.
“I found whenever I started to grow up at 12 and 13 it was difficult.
“The simple things like going out to play with my friends in the street.
“As I got into my late teens, early 20s, my friends started to go out to bars on Friday and Saturday nights and I couldn’t go out with them without a close friend or relative by my side.”
“There are four types of Cerebral Palsy:
Spastic Cerebral Palsy – stiff movements
Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy – uncontrollable movements
Ataxi Cerebral Palsy – poor balance and co-ordination.
Mixed Cerebral Palsy – two or more types of Cerebral Palsy
“Facts surrounding Cerebral Palsy:
“In the UK, about 150 children and diagnosed with CP every month.
“People with CP have it all their live. CP is caused by an injury to the brain. The brain injury does not get worse but the effects may increase with age.”
Eamonn finished his video by saying: “Happy World Cerebal Palsy Day.”
