THE Department of Health has reported a further 1,367 new Coronavirus cases in the North of Ireland in the past 24 hours.
That’s a rise of 276 new cases on figures given yesterday for Sunday.
There has eight more deaths (none outside the current reporting period), bringing the Department of Health’s total number of deaths from the virus (mostly in hospital settings) to 2,629.
None of these latest deaths was recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 8,861 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 89 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a rise of 52 on numbers given yesterday for Sunday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 516 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 26,554 positive cases within the council boundary.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has fallen to 341.1 cases per 100,000 – still the lowest rate of all 11 councils in the North.
The Department has recorded a total of 171 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now up to 105 per cent.
There are currently 347 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus.
There are 31 patients being treated in intensive care with 20 patients on ventilators.
The Western Trust reports that 8.91 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are COVID-19 occupied with staff treating 32 patients with Coronavirus.
Two of these patients are currently being treated in Altnagelvin’s ICU for COVID-19.
The hospital is currently running at 6.32 per cent over capacity with beds.
A total of 60 care homes are now dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak with a further 900 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
A total of ten out of 69 residential care homes in the Western Trust area are still dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
To date, a total of 2,578,675 vaccines have been administered in the North.
