THE Department of Health has reported a further 1,848 new cases in the North of Ireland in the past 24 hours.
That’s a rise of 150 on figures given yesterday for Monday.
There have been 12 further Covid-19-related deaths (none outside the current reporting period), with the total to date since the start of the pandemic (mostly in hospitals) now at 2,814.
None of these latest deaths was recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 10,889 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 110 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, the same number given yesterday for Monday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 628 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 28,605 positive cases within the council boundary.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has risen to 415.1 cases per 100,000 – still the lowest rate of all 11 councils in the North.
The Department has recorded a total of 182 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 104 per cent.
There are currently 427 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus.
There are 33 patients being treated in intensive care with 26 patients on ventilators.
The Western Trust reports that 7.61 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are COVID-19 occupied with staff treating 32 patients with Coronavirus.
Four of these patients are currently being treated in Altnagelvin’s ICU for COVID-19.
The hospital is currently running at 1.41 per cent with unoccupied beds.
A total of 33 care homes are now dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak with a further 965 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
Ten out of 68 residential care homes in the Western Trust area are still dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
To date, a total of 2,849,592 Coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the North.
