THE Department of Health has reported a further 1,681 new cases ih the North of Ireland in the past 24 hours
That’s a fall of 167 on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.
There have been six further Covid-19-related deaths (none outside the current reporting period), with the total to date since the start of the pandemic (mostly in hospitals) now at 2,820.
None of these latest deaths was recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 11,122 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 107 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a fall of threeo on numbers given yesterday for Tuesday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 655 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 28,712 positive cases within the council boundary.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has risen to 433.0 cases per 100,000 – still the lowest rate of all 11 councils in the North.
The Department has recorded a total of 182 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 103 per cent.
There are currently 419 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus.
There are 34 patients being treated in intensive care with 22 patients on ventilators.
The Western Trust reports that 8.78 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are COVID-19 occupied with staff treating 34 patients with Coronavirus.
Four of these patients are currently being treated in Altnagelvin’s ICU for COVID-19.
The hospital is currently running at 0.85 per cent at bed over capacity
A total of 32 care homes are now dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak with a further 968 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
Ten out of 68 residential care homes in the Western Trust area are still dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
To date, a total of 2,871,669 Coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the North.
