THE Department of Health has reported a further 1,690 new cases in the North of Ireland in the past 24 hours.
That’s a rise of nine on figures given yesterday for Wednesday.
There have been seven further Covid-19-related deaths (none outside the current reporting period), with the total to date since the start of the pandemic (mostly in hospitals) now at 2,827.
None of these latest deaths was recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 11,302 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 96 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a fall of 11 on numbers given yesterday for Wednesday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 656 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 28,808 positive cases within the council boundary.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has risen slightly to 433.6 cases per 100,000 – still the lowest rate of all 11 councils in the North.
The Department has recorded a total of 182 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 103 per cent.
There are currently 410 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus.
There are 33 patients being treated in intensive care with 21 patients on ventilators.
The Western Trust reports that 9.07 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are COVID-19 occupied with staff treating 29 patients with Coronavirus.
Four of these patients are currently being treated in Altnagelvin’s ICU for COVID-19.
The hospital is currently running at 2.83 per cent at bed over capacity
A total of 33 care homes are now dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak with a further 969 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
Ten out of 68 residential care homes in the Western Trust area are still dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
To date, a total of 2,890,873 Coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the North.
