THE Department of Health has reported a further 1,476 new cases in the North of Ireland in the past 24 hours.
That’s a slight rise of seven on figures given yesterday for Sunday.
There have been four further Covid-19-related deaths (none outside the current reporting period), with the total to date since the start of the pandemic (mostly in hospitals) now at 2,847.
None of these latest deaths over the weekend was recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 11,502 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 103 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a rise of 24 on numbers given yesterday for Sunday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 715 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 29,189 positive cases within the council boundary.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has fallen slightly to 472.6 cases per 100,000 – still the lowest rate of all 11 councils in the North.
The Department has to date recorded a total of 183 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals remains at 103 per cent.
There are currently 390 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus.
There are 33 patients being treated in intensive care with 25 patients on ventilators.
The Western Trust reports that 8.06 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are COVID-19 occupied with staff treating 30 patients with Coronavirus.
Four of these patients are currently being treated in Altnagelvin’s ICU for COVID-19.
The hospital is currently running at 1.39 per under capacity for beds.
A total of 30 care homes are now dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak with a further 983 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
Ten out of 68 residential care homes in the Western Trust area are still dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
To date, a total of 2,933,054 Coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the North.
