THE Department of Health has announced a further 1,585 new cases in the North of Ireland in the past 24 hours.
That’s a rise of 121 on figures given yesterday for Sunday.
There have been two further Covid-19-related deaths (one outside the current reporting period), with the total to date since the start of the pandemic (mostly in hospitals) now at 2,875.
None of these latest deaths over was recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area over the weekend.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 11,328 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 105 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a rise of nine on numbers given yesterday for Sunday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 681 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 29,883 positive cases within the council boundary.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has fallen slightly to 450.1 cases per 100,000 – still the lowest rate of all 11 councils in the North.
The Department has to date recorded a total of 185 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now up to 103 per cent.
There are currently 341 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus.
There are 29 patients being treated in intensive care with 23 patients on ventilators.
The Western Trust reports that 9.64 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are COVID-19 occupied with staff treating 26 patients with Coronavirus.
Three of these patients are currently being treated in Altnagelvin’s ICU for COVID-19.
The hospital is currently running at 1.93 per cent over capacity for beds.
A total of 31 care homes are now dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak with a further 992 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
Ten out of 68 residential care homes in the Western Trust area are still dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
To date, a total of 3,030,662 Coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the North.
