THE Department of Health has reported 1,635 new cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a rise of 213 on figures given yesterday for Saturday.
There has been one further deathn Covid-19-related deaths bringing the total number of deaths (mostly in hospitals) linked to Covid-19 here since the start of the pandemic is 2,901.
Sadly, over the weekend there were three deaths were recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area over the weekend.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 12,876 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 109 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a fall of 27 on numbers given on Friday for Thursday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 831 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 30,592 positive cases within the council boundary.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has risen to 549.3 cases per 100,000 – still the lowest rate of all 11 councils in the North.
The Department has to date recorded a total of 188 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now down to 103 per cent.
There are currently 301 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus.
There are 34 patients being treated in intensive care with 28 patients on ventilators.
The Western Trust reports that 7.78 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are COVID-19 occupied with staff treating 26 patients with Coronavirus.
Five of these patients are currently being treated in Altnagelvin’s ICU for COVID-19.
The hospital is currently running at 1.11 per cent under capacity for beds.
A total of 37 care homes are now dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak with a further 1,003 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
Ten out of 68 residential care homes in the Western Trust area are still dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
To date, a total of 3,121,608 Coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the North.
