THE Department of Health has reported 1,658 new cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a rise of 23 on figures given yesterday for Sunday.
There has been five further deathn Covid-19-related deaths bringing the total number of deaths (mostly in hospitals) linked to Covid-19 here since the start of the pandemic is 2,907.
None of these latest deaths were were recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 12,519 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 134 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a rise of 25 on numbers given yesterday for Sunday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 838 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 30,726 positive cases within the council boundary.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has risen to 553.9 cases per 100,000 – now the second lowest rate of all 11 councils in the North.
The Department has to date recorded a total of 188 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now up to 105 per cent.
There are currently 317 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus.
There are 35 patients being treated in intensive care with 28 patients on ventilators.
The Western Trust reports that 8.33 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are COVID-19 occupied with staff treating 27 patients with Coronavirus.
Five of these patients are currently being treated in Altnagelvin’s ICU for COVID-19.
The hospital is currently running at 1.94 per cent over capacity for beds.
A total of 32 care homes are now dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak with a further 1,008 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
Ten out of 68 residential care homes in the Western Trust area are still dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
To date, a total of 3,133,807 Coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the North.
