THE Department of Health has announced a further 1,819 new cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a fall of 114 new cases on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.
There has been four further Covid-19-related deaths (none outside the current reporting period) bringing the total number of deaths (mostly in hospitals) linked to Coronavirus here since the start of the pandemic is 2,916.
None of these latest deaths was recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 12,281 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 135 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a fall of 11 on numbers given yesterday for Tuesday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 868 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 31,005 positive cases within the council boundary.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area is currently at 573.8 cases per 100,000 – now the fourth lowest rate of all 11 councils in the North.
The Department has to date recorded a total of 189 Coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals remains at 105 per cent.
There are currently 338 patients in hospitals across the North with Coronavirus.
There are 38 patients being treated in intensive care with 34 patients on ventilators.
The Western Trust reports that 9.44 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are COVID-19 occupied with staff treating 33 patients with Coronavirus.
Six of these patients are currently being treated in Altnagelvin’s ICU for COVID-19.
The hospital is currently running at 2.78 per cent under capacity for beds.
A total of 35 care homes are now dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak with a further 1,010 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
Ten out of 68 residential care homes in the Western Trust area are still dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
To date, a total of 3,166,599 Coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the North which included first and second dose vaccinations and the booster jab.
