THE Department of Health has announced one more Covid-19-related death in the North of Ireland in the past 24 hours.
Deaths are measured by recording those who died within 28 days of receiving a positive result in a test for Coronavirus.
The total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 in North of Ireland since the start of the pandemic is now 2,980.
None of the latest deaths were recorded in the Derry City and Strabane Council area with its death toll from the virus (mostly in hospitals) still at 189.
Friday’s data from the Department of Health shows there has been a further 7,215 positive cases of Coronavirus in the North of Ireland, a rise of 2,514 cases on figures given on Thursday.
This is the highest recorded daily reported figure since the start of the pandemic last year.
It includes cases confirmed from samples taken in previous days, not necessarily just in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
As of Friday, the number of positive cases confirmed in the past seven days was 35,107.
The statistics show that in the past 24 hours there has been a further 1,123 Covid-19 cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
That’s a rise of 532 cases on figures given yesterday.
Over the past seven days, there were 4,469 cases recorded in the Derry and Strabane Council area.
The infection rates within Derry and Strabane is the highest of all councils in the North of Ireland, with 2,947.4 cases per 100,000, the highest of all councils in the North.
There are currently 313 patients with Covid-19 in hospital here.
There are 34 patients with Covid-19 being treated in intensive care units, with 25 people on ventilators.
There are 26 people being treated in Altnagelvin Hospital with Coronavirus with six people in intensive care.
The figures show that 8.36 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are occupied by people with Coronavirus and it is running at 5.01 per cent over capacity for beds.
The Department of Health reports that 112 care homes in the North of Ireland are dealing with an outbreak of Coronavirus, with 1,034 closed cases of Covid-19 in care homes here.
A total of 3,516,996 vaccines for Covid-19 have now been administered across the North of Ireland.
Of that total, 1,398,778 were first doses, 1,296,369 were second doses and 19,144 were third doses.
And 802,505 booster vaccines have also been delivered.
