THE Department of Health has reported three more Covid-19-related deaths in the past 24 hours in the North of Ireland.
Deaths are measured by recording those who died within 28 days of receiving a positive result in a test for Coronavirus.
The total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 in North of Ireland since the start of the pandemic is now 2,998.
Sadly, oone of the latest deaths was recorded in the Derry City and Strabane Council area with its death toll from the virus (mostly in hospitals) now at 190.
Today’s data from the Department of Health shows there has been a further 7,133 positive cases of Coronavirus in the North of Ireland since yesterday.
It includes cases confirmed from samples taken in previous days, not necessarily just in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
As of today, the number of positive cases confirmed in the past seven days was 50,250.
The statistics show that in the past 24 hours there has been a further 959 Covid-19 cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
Over the past seven days, there were 6,737 cases recorded in the Derry and Strabane Council area.
The infection rates within Derry and Strabane is still the highest of all councils in the North of Ireland, and has now risen to 4,443.0 cases per 100,000.
There are currently 403 patients with Covid-19 in hospital here.
There are 32 patients with Covid-19 being treated in intensive care units, with 24 people on ventilators.
There are 55 (up 19 on yesterday’s figures) people being treated in Altnagelvin Hospital with Coronavirus with five people in intensive care.
The figures show that 14.97 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are occupied by people with Coronavirus and it is running at 12.43 per cent over capacity for beds.
The Department of Health reports that 168 care homes in the North of Ireland are dealing with an outbreak of Coronavirus, with 1,039 closed cases of Covid-19 in care homes here.
A total of 3,538,916 vaccines for Covid-19 had been administered in Northern Ireland as of Wednesday.
Of that total, 1,400,386 were first doses, 1,297,911 were second doses and the remaining were third doses.
There have been 821,303 booster vaccines delivered.
