THE Department of Health has reported 14 further Covid-19-related deaths in the past 24 hours in the North of Ireland.
Deaths are measured by recording those who died within 28 days of receiving a positive result in a test for Coronavirus.
The total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 in North of Ireland recorded by the Department of Health since the start of the pandemic is at 3,031.
Sadly, one of these latest deaths was recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
Today’s data from the Department of Health shows there has been a further 2,980 positive cases of Coronavirus in the North of Ireland, a rise of 68 on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.
It includes cases confirmed from samples taken in previous days, not necessarily just in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
As of today, the number of positive cases confirmed in the past seven days was 23,848.
The statistics show that in the past 24 hours there has been a further 247 Covid-19 cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a rise of 37 on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.
Over the past seven days, there were 2,227 cases recorded in the Derry and Strabane Council area.
The infection rates within Derry and Strabane is now the second highest of all councils in the North of Ireland with 1,473.8 cases per 100,000.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now down to 106 per cent.
The Department of Health records that 194 people (mostly in hospitals) have died from Coronavirus in the Derry City and Strabane Council area.
There are currently 424 patients with Covid-19 in hospital here.
There are 28 patients with Covid-19 being treated in intensive care units, with 22 people on ventilators.
There are 46 people being treated in Altnagelvin Hospital with Coronavirus with six people in intensive care.
The figures show that 12.89 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are occupied by people with Coronavirus and it is running at 3.44 per cent over capacity for beds.
The Department of Health reports that 211 care homes in the North of Ireland are dealing with an outbreak of Coronavirus, with 1,045 closed cases of Covid-19 in care homes here.
In the Western Trust area, 41 of its 68 care homes are now dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
A total of 3,602,749 vaccines for Covid-19 had been administered in the North of Ireland as of Thursday.
Of that total, 1,407,989 were first doses, 1,302,751 were second doses and the remaining were third doses.
There have been 872,645 booster vaccines delivered.
