THE Department of Health has announced nine further Covid-19-related deaths (one outside the current recording period) in the past 24 hours in the North of Ireland.
Deaths are measured by recording those who died within 28 days of receiving a positive result in a test for Coronavirus.
The total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 in North of Ireland recorded by the Department of Health since the start of the pandemic is at 3,086.
None of these latest nine deaths were recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
Today’s data from the Department of Health shows there has been a further 4,383 positive cases of Coronavirus in the North of Ireland, a fall of 640 on figures given yesterday for Monday.
It includes cases confirmed from samples taken in previous days, not necessarily just in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
As of today, the number of positive cases confirmed in the past seven days was 31,233.
The statistics show that in the past 24 hours there has been a further 187 Covid-19 cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a fall of 48 on figures given yesterday for Monday.
Over the past seven days, there were 1,529 cases recorded in the Derry and Strabane Council area.
The infection rates within Derry and Strabane remains the third lowest of all 11 councils in the North of Ireland with 1,011.9 cases per 100,000.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is at 105 per cent.
The Department of Health now records that 198 people (mostly in hospitals) have died from Coronavirus in the Derry City and Strabane Council area.
There are currently 395 patients with Covid-19 in hospital here.
There are 22 patients with Covid-19 being treated in intensive care units, with 17 people on ventilators.
There are 38 people being treated in Altnagelvin Hospital with Coronavirus with five people in intensive care.
The figures show that 9.47 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are occupied by people with Coronavirus and it is running at 1.95 per cent over capacity for beds.
The Department of Health reports that 207 care homes in the North of Ireland are dealing with an outbreak of Coronavirus, with 1,093 closed cases of Covid-19 in care homes here.
In the Western Trust area, 39 of its 67 care homes are dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
A total of 3,655,138 vaccines for Covid-19 had been administered in the North of Ireland as of Wednesday.
Of that total, 1,413,414 were first doses, 1,309,950 were second doses and the remaining were third doses.
A total of 912,350 booster vaccines have been administered.
