Mr Durkan had written to the Education Minister Michelle McIlveen last month urging her to extend funding from the Pathway Fund Stream to allow the organisation to continue the delivery of its services for 2022/23.
Said the Foyle Assembly candidate: “I am delighted to learn that funding has been secured for the Dunluce Family Centre.
“I had written to the Education Minister again last month after it emerged that future funding of Dunluce was under threat, urging her to extend it and provide certainty for staff and service users.
“The Dunluce Centre is a family centre that offers and caters for a wide range of integrated services which support, educate and empower local families to develop and grow to meet their full potential.
“Crucially, the centre also provides a creche facility for parents, the only one in an area that serves the third most deprived area in all of the North of Ireland.
“They are a vital resource within the community.
“The team at Dunluce carry out fantastic work and I have long been a supporter of the organisation, seeing first-hand the work they do to support children and families.
“I am pleased they have received the funding needed to continue providing crucial services.”
