SDLP Foyle Assembly candidate Sinead McLaughlin has expressed her strong concern over reports of a shortage of HRT for menopausal women in the North of Ireland.
The BBC reports that the shortage is causing women to share their HRT medication.
Said Ms McLaughlin: “This is another example of women not receiving the support they need for health conditions.
“HRT is a necessary treatment for many women going through the menopause.
“I find it very distressing to hear that pharmacies across the North have run out of the medication.
“It is essential that the NHS in England as well as the North of Ireland take the lead in getting the medication supply difficulties under control.
“Once again it is women who are suffering as a result of problems in our health service.
“And this is unacceptable.”
