Chairman Philip O’Doherty addressed fans at the Maldron Hotel on Wednesday evening, as part of the first Fans’ Forum of the season.
Also in a attendance were director Sean Barrett, manager Ruaidhri Higgins and assistant manager Alan Reynolds.
In a statement, the club said: “The Board of Directors recently announced a review of security and safety at Derry City football matches. That review is now completed, and the following measures introduced.
“Pulse Security Management has been appointed to ensure security and safety at all home matches.
“Pulse has been instructed to rigorously ensure that anyone identified as causing trouble or jeopardising the safety of others at home games is barred from attending matches.
“They have also been instructed to enact body checks if there is suspicion of prohibited objects being smuggled into the grounds.
“The Club has gathered evidence of unacceptable behaviour against a few people at recent matches and has already issued a life- long banning order on them.
“Enhanced CCTV monitoring will be in place during home matches.
“Pyrotechnics may be colourful, but they are also dangerous. They cost the Club lots of money that would be better spent on the new youth academy that is being developed.
“Anyone detected bringing them into the ground or anyone detected by stewards and/or CCTV at home or away matches will be issued a life -long bar from attending matches.
“Steps have been taken to improve information between Clubs about behaviour of travelling supporters. Unacceptable behaviour of travelling fans will also result in individuals being disbarred from home games.
“The Club are delighted at the large increase of young and well- behaved young people attending their matches.
“They cement the Club’s determination to ensure the friendly rivalry, the passion and the enjoyment of our sport and that it takes place in a safe and secure environ.
“Part of the legacy of our Club is being leaders in friendliness and hospitality. Those values can only thrive when safety and security is the norm.
“The Club intends to do all within its power to ensure that those values are protected,” the statement concluded.
