LIVES will undoubtedly be saved in the North West after the helipad at Altnagevlin Hospital was renovated.
It means the Air Ambulance can safely land in the hospital grounds to transfer patients to nursing staff and doctors working in the Emergency Department.
Air Ambulance NI tweeted this afternoon: “Great news – AANI can now land at Altnagelivn Hospital newly renovated helipad.
“This allows the HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) team to bring appropriate patients direct to Altnagelvin, reducing road transfer times & improving patient care.
“Thanks to @WesternHSCTrust for their support and investment @NIAS999.”
Since the Air Ambulance NI was launched in 2017, it has has been tasked over 2,850 times to attend scenes to give emergency first aid before whisking patients to hospital.
