THE Department of Health has reported one further Covid-19-related death in the North of Ireland.
Deaths are measured by recording those who died within 28 days of receiving a positive result in a test for Coronavirus.
The DoH records that this latest death did not happe outside the current reporting period.
The total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 in the North of Ireland recorded by the Department of Health since the start of the pandemic is at 3,417.
Sadly, this latest death was recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
Today’s data from the Department of Health shows there has been a further 329 cases in the North of Ireland over the past 24 hours, a fall of 26 on figures given yesterday for Wednesday.
It includes cases confirmed from samples taken in previous days, not necessarily just in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
As of today, the number of positive cases confirmed in the past seven days was 2,712.
The statistics show there has been a further 23 Covid-19 cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area in the past 24 hours, a fall of four on figures given yesterday for Wednesday.
Over the past seven days, there were 185 recorded cases in the Derry and Strabane Council area.
The infection rates within Derry and Strabane is the fifth lowest of all 11 councils in the North of Ireland with 122 cases per 100,000.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 105 per cent.
The Department of Health now records that 224 people (mostly in hospitals) have died from Coronavirus in the Derry City and Strabane Council area.
There are currently 321 patients with Covid-19 in hospitals here.
There are three patients with Covid-19 being treated in intensive care units with one person on a ventilator.
There are 21 people being treated in Altnagelvin Hospital with Coronavirus and no one with Covid-19 is in intensive care.
The figures show that 6.98 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are occupied by people with Coronavirus with the hospital running at 6.42 over capacity for beds.
The Department of Health reports that 80 care homes in the North of Ireland are dealing with an outbreak of Coronavirus, with 1,517 closed cases of Covid-19 in care homes here.
In the Western Trust area, 20 of its 67 care homes are dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
A total of 3,808,794 vaccines have been administered to date across the North of Ireland as of Friday.
Of those figures, more than one million booster and third dose vaccinations have now been administered in the North of Ireland to date.
