Said the Foyle MLA: “These damning statistics reveal the long waits faced by women across the North to access their first appointment with a gynaecology consultant.
“It is unconscionable that waiting times have more than doubled in four years and more than 12,000 women here have been waiting for longer than 52 weeks.
“That isn’t just a service slow to deliver – it is evidence of a broken system that is failing women.
“Behind every statistic is a woman who is waiting on a vital, potentially life-saving appointment with a consultant, yet more evidence of the human consequences of our dysfunctional politics that is preventing progress from being made for patients and their families.
“These figures are just another example of why the Executive should be reformed as a matter of urgency.
“People deserve a functioning government so we can solve the problems that they are facing and hold the Minister of Health to account in dealing with these pressing challenges.”
