THE SDLP’s Derry Assembly representative Sinéad McLaughlin has called for progress to be made on the A2 Buncrana Road Improvement Scheme.
This follows a response to an Assembly Written Question, tabled by Ms. McLaughlin and recent planning permission for over 700 homes at the H2 site on the Buncrana Road.
Said the Foyle MLA: “The A2 Buncrana Road scheme has been a long time coming for the people of Derry and it is vital that it is finally delivered.
“We all know the benefit that the scheme could bring to the city in terms of connectivity, improved road safety as well as contributing to economic regeneration and the potential for more active and sustainable travel.
“Following recent planning permission given for over 700 homes at the H2 site on the Buncrana Road and the continual development of Skeoge it is more imperative than ever that the A2 redevelopment is prioritised to ensure that these much-needed homes do not add to congestion.
“I am proud of the progress made under previous SDLP Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon in committing to funding the continued development of this scheme and consulting with local businesses.
“The SDLP will continue to campaign for this badly needed scheme to finally be delivered.”
