Little Shauna and dad Robert who tragically died in petrol station explosion

Beloved father and daughter Robert Garwe and Shauna Flanagan Garwe are to be remembered at a joint funeral this Saturday.

Robert, aged 50, and his five-year-old daughter Shauna, perished one week ago in the Creeslough explosion.

Shauna was the youngest victim to die in the tragedy. She started school at Scoil Mhuire Creeslough just a few weeks ago.

She and her dad had called into the Applegreen shop after school last Friday to buy a birthday cake for her mother.

Shauna’s uncle Killian Flanagan has said that when they were found, Robert had his arms around his little girl.

“She was wrapped in her daddy’s care, in her daddy’s embrace, and please God that that still remains, and he’s keeping her safe wherever they are,” Killian said.

Their heartbroken family has released the following Funeral details:

“The tragic deaths occurred in Creeslough of Robert Garwe and his daughter Shauna Flanagan-Garwe of 55 Massinass Cottages, Creeslough.

“Deeply missed by a heartbroken Áine, Taona, Gabriel, Darren, Tessa, Alex, Conrad and their extended families and many friends.

“Their remains will be reposing at their home in Creeslough from 1 p.m to 10 p.m on Friday 14th October 2022.

“Strictly family time from 10 p.m and on the morning of the Funeral.

“Funeral Mass in St Michael’s Church, Creeslough on Saturday 15th October at 11 a.m. Followed by private Cremation.

“Funeral Mass can be viewed live on https://www.mcnmedia.tv/camera/st-michaels-church

“Family flowers only please.”
