Two released over shots fired at Derry bonfire

A 19-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, arrested by detectives investigating a report that shots were fired during a bonfire in the Meenan Square area of the Bogside in Derry, on the night of 15th August this year, have been released following questioning.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 2217 15/08/22.

The New IRA later claimed responsibility saying it opened fire on police officers who were in the area at the time.
