SDLP Foyle MLA Sinead McLaughlin

SDLP Foyle MLA Sinéad McLaughlin has condemned those responsible for the smashing of a car window on the Tullyally Road, which left an 87-year-old woman badly shaken.

It is understood that a group of youths attacked the car with snowballs that are thought to have contained stones.

Said Ms McLaughlin: “The young people involved in this incident should be ashamed of themselves for taking part in this kind of reckless behaviour that has left an elderly pensioner with a heart condition badly shaken.

“People should be allowed to go about their daily life in peace without suffering from these kinds of irresponsible actions.

“My heart goes out to the 87-year-old woman who was affected by this distressing incident which could have ended with much more serious consequences.

“I would urge those responsible to think long and hard about their behaviour and the potential ramifications.”
