Derry City FC Women are delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Dixon as First Team Manager ahead of the 2023 season.
Paul, a 33yr old native of Ballykelly, started coaching at 16 years old, helping the local grassroots development officers out with schools and summer programmes prior to pursuing coaching as a career.
Paul has worked with Limavady Women FC, Southampton Women FC and the girl’s excellence programme in Northern Ireland.
Paul has also spent time coaching in the U.S, before working in England.
Speaking at the Brandywell, Paul gave his initial thoughts following his appointment:
”I am delighted to have the opportunity and I’m under no illusions about the challenge ahead. Looking at last year’s league table of a rock bottom finish, no wins and only 3 goals scored, we definitely have work to do.
“But I believe with a new culture and a 1% better each day mindset, then we can change the perception of Women’s football in the city.
“Derry City is such a historic club and the biggest task is to restore pride in the badge on the Women’s side. We need young girls in the area to grow up wanting to be part of that success.
“When I was approached about the job, I got a really good feeling from the board and the academy coaches, which makes it an exciting opportunity and the perfect challenge for me and the coaching team”.
Derry City say: “Everyone associated with the club wishes Paul the very best of success in his new role.”
